Our Purpose
American history holds many ideals that have evolved into present day American ideologies. These projects take a deeper look into the hidden secrets of the United States. These symbolic pieces of art help us glance into the depths of our heritage. Each project holds symbolism to American history through the creation of art, and students have combined history to create a thorough understanding of the past. There are three projects, each analyzing America from different perspectives. We can see the influence of independence and dominance on America, and the good and bad of United States history. Through exploring these various pages, a deeper understanding of America can be gained.
The Execution of our Purpose
Dominance Project:Dominance Project:
Dominance Project:
The Dominance themed timeline created from a collage of images represents the ideas, concepts, and events of the period. The time periods analyzed include Pre-Revolutionary America, the Beginning of Federal Power, the Civil War, the Gilded Age/Progressivism, Isolationism, and Modern-Day America. The pictures, separated from their central collage, will have their literal or symbolic descriptions revealed when scrolled over in this electronic representation of America's history.
Independence Project:
This Independence themed project follows the idea of individual struggles and ideas that evolved into social movements, which shaped the course of American history. The abstract building, composed of different social struggles, gives each movement their own portion of the building. The people found in each section of the building represent the innovators, initiators, and founders associated with the social movements. Beneath the central building, the components of the building are described along with their historical significance.
March on America:
The March on America is intended to epitomize the themes and movements of America, inducing the ideas of tradition, pride, and humility. These concepts will be portrayed in a multi-media representation of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Pardade, with balloons depicting sections of American history that correlate with the overarching themes of the country. The balloons cover five specific time periods, including Columbus, Manifest Destiny, the Gilded Age, the Civil Rights Movement, and Modern Technology. This project shows symbolic balloons and the people beneath them while questioning whether the people are controlling the times
or if they are just the shadows of that era.
